In the midst of alot of desolation and black gravity from Malvo, a baby was born. There was a peaceful scene between Molly and Ida. They are obviously friends because of circumstances and likely don't have much of anything else in common. There wasn't anything inspirational or philosophical or profound about their hospital scene together, but the quietness (especially after kicking the men out) and the sense of peace was a very memorable warm glow.

One review said they will probably be friends forever. I tried to imagine how this would look like for two acquaintances whose friendship is bound together by a tragedy. I could only think that the future friendship consists of occasional updates of the baby growing up.

I used to think that conversations needed to be more than just a series of updates, but that they needed to be profound, to wrestle and come to grips with wider questions, to acknowledge the littleness of our own lives. And maybe it's true that these conversations are necessary. But they are not more valuable than the simple transfer of memories from one daily life to another person.
